Running SWG when pool pump is not running

Hi,

I have a pentair system (Intelli Flo, Easy touch) and just got the Intelli-Chlor installed. However, the kit did not come with a wire to connect the Intelli-Chlor to Easy Touch. Right now, the SWG is on the entire time, and the flow light turns red (no flow) when the pump is not running.

1. Is that safe? I saw somewhere that there could be a gas build up if the SWG is on while the pump is not running. What should I do?

2. How can I connect the Intelli Chlor to my easy touch? Here is the kit I had ordered. Pentair IntelliChlor IC60 Complete Salt Chlorinator System

3. Lastly, I have a spa connected to the pool. The spa is about 1/20th the size of the pool. If I run the pool pump for 6 hours, do I maintain the same SWG output and run the Spa for 15 mins? I am not sure how I can set up separate percentages for the spa vs the pool .

Thanks in advance for your help.

It is not recommended as the flow switch should be the secondary safety switch.

The SWCG should be wired through the LOAD side of the Filter/Pump relay. So the SWCG will not run unless the pump is running in Pool or Spa mode.

If you run the Spa Spillover function, it will flush the spa with water from the pool.

Ah thanks. Looks like it is not wired correctly. I will ask my installer.

I was trying not to use the spillover since it increases the ph, and it sounds like swg also increases your ph faster than otherwise.

K,

The AC that goes to the SWCG Power Center "MUST" come from the Load side of the Pump/Filter relay. This relay only closes when in the pool mode or spa mode and when the pump should be running.

Also, there should be a 4 wire cable that connects the Com port inside the Power Center to the Com port inside the EasyTouch. This allows you to use the EasyTouch to control the SWCG and for the SWCG to report the salt level to the EasyTouch. (This is a homemade cable..)

Thanks,

Jim R.

You can schedule Spillover in the Easytouch to run for 15 minutes or so twice a day. That pulls the water from the pool and returns it to the spa. That will chlorinate the spa.

The SWCG has little effect on pH rise in a pool.
