The ultimate answer to the Q: what happens if you fill salt water pool with sea water

Reminds me of a place were we vacationed once in the 70’s when we lived in Turkey. The beach resort had a pool they filled with water from the sea each morning, then drained it back into the sea each evening. Now that’s a real saltwater pool! 😁👍

How’s your franken pool project going? I assume you’re referring to doing a test fill?
I kinda feel like this should be merged with your other thread.

I have the pool running, deck not finished yet. I had to do like 4-5 test fills to level the pool as much as possible.I have issue with 2nd pump (sucking in air) - I may post a video to see if anyone has ideas of how to troubleshoot with limited resources. Yesterday found a micro-cracked elbow on the jet line so that could be something similar.

Did you use diluted ocean water?
+1 on this.

While we scoff at people's fears of salt damage, that is at levels around 3,000 ppm for a salt pool. Ocean water has over 10x the amount of salt (35,000 ppm) and is likely way higher than your equipment is meant to tolerate.

Lol 😂 I don’t blame u!
Just wondering as I feel like we discussed using a diluted mixture in your other thread.
Yeah I throughly checked the forum and internet, even ChatGPT. I didn't start the equipment with the sea water either so had to wait until the final fill. Just now got everything up and running. I have a rain water tank that we normally use but it's 4K gal vs 14k for the pool.
