Okay I have questions. Last year we had our 4 foot by 10 foot intex easy set pool above ground and it ended up being too hot to swim by the end of summer. Was thinking about burying it or at least 2 feet. It's the pool with the air ring. Should I or shouldn't I? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi and welcome to TFP. That is a great pool to cool off in when the water is still cool. With you being in Louisiana any pool is going to get hot as the summer wears on. That goes for inground pools as well. There are a couple of things you could do to help cool the water off.

-Big umbrella over it to keep the sun off the water.
-A way to shoot the water up in the air and back into the pool over night like a fountian.
-replace the water when it gets too hot.

Just some ideas that are a LOT less work than digging a hole that big and will not really do much good.

It won’t help with the temp that much. Also, its just a bad idea (& alot of work!)
Get yourself a fountain ⛲
I have this one that attaches to a normal above ground return
But I made one for my intex pool - intex also makes a few
When its hot i run mine around the clock.

I did plan on moving it closer to the trees for shade. Just was wondering if the pool itself would withstand being in the ground.

I wasn't too smart before buying. The air ring stops me from doing anything like that. I thought about putting poles in the ground around the pool and shading it that way. I was just wondering yalls opinion was on putting it in the ground a couple feet . I don't see any pools with the air ring in the ground. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Okay so you were asking about if you could bury it more than anything correct?

Yes you can bury it. You will have to find a way to diverts the water from the hole. We could help you come up with some ideas on that if you decide to start digging.

Yes. Please and Thank you. First time doing something like this. I appreciate it

Do some reading up on "French drains". It is what you will need to do to keep the rain water run off and pool splash out from washing out the dirt from under the pool. You will also want to dig a "channel" to where you want the water to end up.

You’re describing an “easy set” pool.
Its a big bag of water with no frame. The ring keeps it from collapsing. It is designed to move. Burying it would prevent that movement. It also really won’t keep your pool any cooler. Seriously, just get or make a sprinkler/ fountain. My above ground pool is 10 degrees cooler than my neighbors inground in the dog days of summer because I use a fountain.

Ok. I just had to look it up and maths. Your pool is roughly 2000 gallons and that would cost $4.87 to refill by me. Dump it weekly and the hose water will be much cooler to start. Half fills would probably work wonders too.

Most hard sided above ground pools can't be buried 2 ft without a retaining wall, and yours ads a pop risk to the cave in risk. Then you need to channel your heavy rains away from your reinforced hole. You'll spend alot of money in relation to the cost of the pool for no gain.

What is this concept of "the pool gets too hot". I don't understand.

Seriously though, burying a pool like that (easy set with absolutely no supports other than the air ring) is a recipe for disaster. I also don't see what it is going to do to help you with temperatures. About the only way it would help is if they pool was in contact with the ground (or better yet groundwater) around the edges. And if it is, then those walls are not going to last long at all.
