I purchased a brush manual vacuum and hose on Amazon. The hose does not fit in the suction port on side of pool, the hose is same size as port it doesn't go in. And if I try to use port in the bottom of the skimmer basket the port is to large. The skimmer is a Pentair Sta Rite skimmer. Do I have the wrong hose, or do I need an adaptor? I feel like it shouldn’t be this hard so I’m sure I’m missing something simple.

Hose I purchased: Amazon.com
Vacuum I purchased: Amazon.com

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Filling out your signature would be very helpful, it would eliminate guessing. I assume you have an inground pool. Do you have 2 skimmers?

I had a problem with my manual hose not fitting in the bottom hole of my skimmer. After trying to figure what adapter I could use, I tried the other skimmer and it fit perfectly.

Ok I think I added to my signature! Thanks for that, I didn’t even know that was there!

It is an in ground pool and I do have two skimmers, but I tried both and they are the same.

Buy a skimmer vac plate. It goes over the skimmer basket and keeps the larger debris out of the pump. There's only a handful of sizes so it's easy to tell you need an 8 1/2 and not a 7 1/4. (Etc etc)

I would never have thought to not use a skimmer vacuum plate. I prefer to keep the larger debris in the skimmer basket rather than the pump basket. That way I can dump the debris without shutting down the pump.

I stopped using at the new place once it dawned on my I never had any debris larger than sand. It only took 1.5 years to realize. :ROFLMAO:

But when there's leaves (etc) or the skimmer pipe isn't a perfect fit from the hose they're a great option.

It must be nice to be leaf and critter free. Some of the critters I get include millipedes, worms, snails, and spiders. My robot doesn't like to pick up leaves.
