Hi All, I am planning on installing a QF220A GFCI for my pool pump.

Siemens EQ 125 Amp 4-Space 8-Circuit Main Lug Outdoor Load Center

Model #W0408ML1125U

Siemens 20 Amp Double Pole Type QPF2 GFCI Circuit Breaker

  • Interruption Type: GFCI
  • Maximum Amperage (A): 20
Question is: Any comments regarding the fact that the breaker is "rated" for 40 C? The breaker box is going to be outside and will get direct sunlight from noon until 6PM. Temperature outside at that time is between 38 and 42 C every day during Summer.

Also, any recent experiences with this breaker and VS Pool Pumps in general?

Thanks

Interesting, so at 122F you have an 18A CB.

An 18A breaker should not have more then a 14A load on it.

I think most VS pumps + SWG should not have an amp rating of more then 14 amps. So the 40C temperature rating should not be a problem.

Unless you are running the pump at full speed 24/7, it should not be a problem.

What pump do you have?

How many amps and how long do you run the pump?

What is the maximum temperature?
I have the one attached but I am planning on replacing it with a VS next year. I run it 8 hours a day in summer. Max temp outside? so far has reached 43c

11Amp pump on an 18Amp CB is fine.

You are good with the heat.

You could consider building some type of shad structure for the sub panel and pool equipment. This would help protect both from the sun's UV rays.

Yep been thinking about that for a while but havent really found an easy way provide protection. The equipment is facing West and placed in an area that is getting direct sunlight from left right front and up

PVC pipe or metal electrical conduit for the frame and sunscreen or shade sail material for the covering.
Some have used composite/plastic lattice. Others have built a block wall around a part of the area and then covered the rest with one of the above.

The more expensive option is to have a company construct a metal frame and cofer eaxh section with screening.

Lots of options.
Show us a few pics of the area. Someone might have an easy solution.
