Biogard Renewal vs. Baking Soda

Welcome to TFP.

Renewal is a mixture of dry acid(sodium bisulfate), boric acid, and phosphonic acid (scale inhibitor) at a premium price. The dry acid will lower pH.

Baking soda is baking soda. Baking soda will cause a big rise in TA and a small rise in pH.

They do different and opposite things to your water chemistry.

Thanks for the SDS and info. The bag only lists Sodium Bisulfate (Baking Soda).

Baking Soda is Sodium Bicarbonate.

That is a very different chemical then Sodium Bisulfate which is a dry acid.
