Really late opening this year- pulled the cover off to a black swamp and low and behold our pump is dead. Will be a week at least before if can be replaced. Should I shock the swamp without the pump or wait patiently looking at the swamp?

What is the pH and CYA of the water?
You want to follow the SLAM Process
But before adding any stabilizer/CYA confirm the water holds chlorine by adding 10ppm of liquid chlorine and then test after 30 minutes and see the water holds chlorine before adding CYA.

How do you know that it is dead?
Can you turn the shaft?
Have you checked the capacitor?
Have you measured the voltage?
Does it make any noise at all?
