We had our pool replastered about 3 months ago. We are in Lake Havasu City, Az and the water here is very hard. I test our water almost every day with the kit and use liquid chlorine along with muriatic acid. I input readings into Pool Math app. Pool constantly needs acid along with the chlorine. Is this just something with the new plaster, or a constant need? The app is telling me to add 45 oz of baking soda to raise total alkalinity. Doesn't this raise the pH as well? Im confused. I certainly dont want to mess up our plaster. Thanks in advance.

Do not add baking soda.
The new plaster is adding some extra push on the pH. But with our fill water, its high TA, you will add acid every few days in the summer regardless.
Do you have a water softener? Using softened water for make up water is much better. Otherwise you will need to drain your pool about every 12-16 months.

I recently installed a soft water system to the house and plan on tapping into the cold line under kitchen sink and then connecting it to the pool fill line. Hopefully it wont cost me too much extra in salt to utilize the soft water for the pool. Thank you.

Also... Your FC seems to frequently be below the minimum level to prevent algae growth. With a CYA concentration of 50ppm, you shouldn't ever let your FC drop below 4ppm. If I lived where you do, I'd aim for FC around 8ppm.

I have 3 month old plaster and 150 TA fill water, and I’m adding 8-10 oz of 31% MA daily to keep ph under 8. My tested TA hovers around 70-80.

This is for a 10k gallon pool if that helps a benchmark
