Vinyl Pool Return Leak

Welcome to TFP! From the photo, it look like the side wall has settled causing the jet to slip upwards. Has that been confirmed? I suspect you may not only have a leak at the return jet gasket, but that open area between the bottom of the jet and the vinyl should also be addressed to ensure water can't slip behind the liner.

The pressure of the water will hold the liner up against the pool wall but it will still leak a bit and probably corrode your side wall. It should be fixed.

A fix that will work but will be visible is to lower the water level well below the return and then glue a round piece of vinyl larger than the existing hole. (maybe 2" larger. Then simply recut the hole in the patch. It will be effective but quite visible.

Thank you all for your prompt response, I was able to contact an installer and they patched the return as pictured. A little back story: I do believe when they installed my pool (last year 2022), they cut the liner at the skimmer and return before the waterline was just under the return. Therefore, the water pressure stretched the liner at the return. I installed a light in the pool, that should have been installed in the first place but was not, luckily the liner held in this area all last year. This liner stretch was unbeknownst to me June 2023 until I needed to replace my broken light with my old return as pictured.
