Long story short: my pool has one return using metal pipe (black steel I believe) and it's end is under water. It rusted under pool water (chlorine). I would like to try painting it before more expensive fix. Any paint for metal under pool water is recommended? Thanks in advance.

I think it will be easier if you drain the pool down below the pipe.

I will lower the water level. It's not deep. But I wonder which paint can protect in chlorine water.

Put a rust neutralizer on it before painting. The neutralizer needs rust on it to work.
It is part of a return going through the wall, hard to replace. That's why I want to try painting first.

. That's the long story part. The pool leak fixing company put in this pipe, seal and connect it to the pipe from pump behind the wall last year. Replacing it means redoing that job.
