Our pump is about 10yrs old, over the last 2 years it stopped working a few times and I was able to put it back working, by replacing the capacitor 3 or 4 times. Today the pump stopped working and we want to replace it. Any pump recommendations based on what we currently have, and also, is there a place you recommend buying it from?

What is the make and model of the current pump? Do you know if it is 115 or 230V?
A Nidec Neptune NPTQ270 motor will bolt right up and your pump will then be a variable-speed Hayward TriStar. You won't need your existing timeclock and will have complete control over speeds, run-times, etc. About half the cost of a new pump. Add the following kit and you have all you need (EcoStar and TriStar are the same pump with a different name). A ground fault circuit breaker should be installed into the pump circuit as well.

There are many videos on YouTube on replacing pump motors. I you're a DIY person, shouldn't be too hard. This is an expensive item, if you're not sure, hire someone. I've purchased and had customers do so from here:

Following up on your suggestion. I replace the capacitor back in May and yesterday the pump died again. I reached out to someone to see if they could replace the motor, as suggested, but he said that if I have a Hayward controller, I’ll have to go with a Hayward VS pump. He also said that getting a power end instead of a complete pump would cost me about the same.
