So, it rained and mud ran into the salt water, inground, 33k gallon pool. Put some flocculent into the pool. Well, that was dumb because we have a cartridge filter. Did not know should not do that. We used the robot vacuum and it did get a bunch of mud out. Had to clean the catcher thing like 5 times, now it is not collecting anything. Water is a little cloudy but we can see the bottom. How do you know if the floc is out? How do you get it out since cannot vacuum to waste? If we just chalk it up and let it ruin the cartridges and buy new ones, will it screw up other parts of the filter? HELP

I have a feeling your best alternative might be to vacuum into the filter like normal and replace the cartridge(s). The only other things I could think of are:
1 - Rent a sump pump and rig-up a vacuum to that out to waste.
2 - Cur your PVC line after the pump and before the filter just to install a valve to create a waste function.

Turn off the pump.it will all sit at the bottom of the pool.
In addition to what @Texas Splash wrote you can use a portable pool vacuum to get the sediments out of the pool

Pump off and keep running the robot if it's not pressure side dependent.
When you have flocs and they are sitting at the bottom of the pool they must be vacuumed to waste. it is like a wet tissue and easily breaks and if you use a robot to clean flocs they will all break and get back to the water.
