As my efforts to replace my pool light have utterly failed, my next trick is to make these battery LED’s work

The light itself is reasonably bright (for what it is) and cheap enough that if it lasts a season its worth it.

How to mount it?

I had high hopes I could zip tie the mounting plates to these mystery plastic inserts at the midpoint of the pool which I think are probably there to hold some sort of deep end dividing rope.

But there’s no ‘ridge’ of any sort on the interior of the piece which will hold onto the zip tie. No good.

I was thinking about putting a small stainless screw into the face of the plastic. I don’t need much of an anchor point so it can be a tiny one. Can I expect a stainless screw from the hardware store to stand up to pool water long term?

I could also possibly attach to my non functional light fixture but the position isn’t ideal as its one point in the deep end. Getting a couple lights in the middle of the pool would be much better.

Anyone got any other ideas?

I kinda thought the airdrill might be a legit solution. No?

How much water would you need to drain out of the pool to be able to drill it with a cordless drill?

At least 6 inches. Probably more like 8. More than I want to.

I've got this extension for my dremel rotary. I think itll take a small bit. I could have someone hold the dremel a couple feet back from the pool and put the extension in the water. Is that stupid?

If you have an air drill or can rent one then use it.

The Deremel bit on a flex pipe may work if it reaches. I never used one of them.

You have to try and see what works.

the dremel extension worked really well! I don’t know why they don’t advertise it works underwater!! :p

I have a Dremel with a few add-ons but never needed the flex one. Good to know.

I am sure it isn’t any good for the tool but ive used it like twice in 15 years so not too worried.
I have many tools in my cabinet that have only been used once or twice. But the right tool for the job is priceless.
