This is my first pool and my only point of comparison is the smorobot. In my experience thus far, the "auto" mode on the smorobot seemed to have more consistent results. It did not have the ability (at least mine did not, I understand there was an elusive software update and cable that enabled this) to do floor or wall. The individual mode cleaning with the aiper seems to produce better results(at least in my freeform pool). Smorobot chose to refund my purchase instead of sending a 4th replacement so that's an issue lol

Where is roomba with the self docking, self emptying, self charging lidar mapping pool robot under $1000

I do hope yours was a fluke and that you have a good experience with yours. Please keep us posted. I may give them another try in the future. I will say that their customer service is very responsive and they are easy to work with, in my limited experience.

Yours could be pool shape. Since I have full radii everywhere except at the steps, it seems to hit every surface. My Aquabot is flawless, I just want to get rid of the cord. I pull mine out after each run corded or not, definitely extends life. My 1st Aquabot is 10 years old and still going (although bought a new one last year for its swivel cord).

Mine was the Nautilus CC Plus. I plan to do some research, but I will probably purchase another one since im returning the Seagull Pro. The runtime on the Nautilus is 2 hours, acutally less than the Seagull Pro. It does not just run continuously. It always did a great job in one cycle. As tcat suggested, maybe the Seagull didn't work well for me due to pool shape. For reference, my pool is a 16x32 rectangular pool with a deep end.

This is the one I use now, it's an upgrade to my Rapids 4wd. Good price too, plus 5% if you use redcard. Just doesn't do waterline, and the Seagull does walls better, not that walls are a big deal. It runs 3 hours. Cord doesn't tangle.

How deep is the deep end? My pool is 20x40 rectangle with an 8' deep end, so I'm guessing I'd have similar results....

Mine is 8' as well and a 3' shallow end

Some pictures of progress or lack of progress. I ran a 2nd cycle from full charge today running on floor mode only. Sadly I did not take pictures between the first 2 cycles.

I'm not completely sold or unsold on it yet. My "wall only" mode test tonight was an epic fail as far as cleaning goes. For entertainment, it was a huge win. It climbed well but flipped over every single time it broke the waterline. It wasn't hitting the coping and as far as I could tell after multiple attempts restarting it, all the air was purged out. We will see what support says. In the end, I think if it works will come down to personal preference and pool shape. If I return it, I'll go back to corded and wait the requisite 3-5 year life span for cordless technology to improve.

The Seagull Pro seems far too limited by the pre-programmed S and N patterns to be useful for many of us. Shame they didn't think outside of the perfect rectangle box.

That's a lot of gunk! Some of that looks pretty big and maybe should be scooped out with a net. Since most robots have suction at the center, I'm not sure how they could get stuff from a sharp inside corner unless they could move along the wall perimeter. Pretty sure my Aquabot wouldn't get the stuff at the corner. Not even the corner at my steps is that sharp, it has a radius at least as big as the brush, I'm sure that helps a lot.

I tend to agree. I wonder if the amount of gunk would have impacted performance too as far as picking up other stuff. Not sure how these work but assume a basket like that would make air flow restricted.

I have yet to bite the bullet to get one. I think honestly it will work for my rectangle pool and the issue with walls is not a big concern for me as I have a pool company and I usually brush anyways....i just don't like the feeling of leaves / particles on feet when in pool and thats what this would be for...

There is a good amount of dirt at the deep end but it is all dirt and pretty fine, no leaves/twigs. I removed all of the leaves prior. Also the deep end has no sharp corners and is a smooth bowl, but is very deep. The shallow end I can understand it having some issues but my s300 had very little issue with the corner there.

After watching it in the deep end I think it is having issues with the curved bottom along with the bowl shape. I will keep experimenting some before calling support.

Update on mine: Reattempted wall only mode and auto mode with the same backflipping results. Aiper support believes it's a problem with the motor and are sending me a replacement FedEx. Free return shipping. Same as tcat, no questions asked.

I am still very pleased with how well it's done in floor only mode for my pool.

I certainly hope the people at Aiper are reading here so they can make improvements. I do think this cleaner has promise once the bugs get sorted. IMO, a pool mapping feature would be the ideal upgrade.

Update: I am on day 9 and to try to get max usage during the 30 day "trial" I've been running it daily whether the pool needs it or not. I figure if it's going to die early, running it often with expedite that

1. Auto mode is not great-likely due to my pool shape.
2. Running separate floor/wall mode provides the best cleaning
3. It will not climb onto my baja ledge or the seat in the grotto
4. It does a good job picking up most of the sand and debris I get but think I would really benefit from the finer basket
5. As I'm not sure how "smart" the charger is, I have it plugged into the controlled outlet we installed in anticipation of getting a wired robot. I have the outlet triggered from intellicenter for 1hr 45m nightly.
6. I removed the risers on our main drains and it no longer seems to get hung up in them.

Just curious, what's a riser on the main drain? Once I receive my replacement I plan on running it when the pump is off, hopefully that will prevent getting hung up. Nice to hear yours is still going after 9 days.

Have you ever pulled it out before it depletes the battery? I think maybe that's how I screwed mine up.

Thanks, I have same (I think) without the riser. I have 2 drains, so no flow issue. I plan on doing floor only, and run walls maybe every 3rd or 4th run. And basket should be finer, my Aquabot does catch more "dust".

Thanks to everyone (@tcat @Ahultin @Kaylee34 @jburgert ) for sharing your experiences. I am not a robot fan but if I ever go that way, then I would only consider the wireless type. The cable across the deck is a no-go for me. Keep updating this thread with your experiences with this new technology.
I “cut the cord” on vacuuming within the house now using iRobot.

Yes, cord sucks, but lots easier than hoses! Cord on the deck not so bad until wife makes me hide it in the cabinet after use.
