A story about a pool

Once upon a time, a man bought a house with a very ugly painted pool

and very ugly pool equipment.

But he bought a new filter

And he bought a new pump

And after spending way too much money being pool stored, discovered a lovely web site and forum that taught him about the BBB method of pool care, and life was good and the pool was sparkling.

Life was good, except for the tree that rained down fluff and leaves and pods 10+ months out of the year, and broke the pool deck because the idiot previous owners planted it 2 feet from the deck.

So the tree came down,

and the deck was repaired,

and life was good.
Except that the filter cartridges had to be cleaned multiple times per month because the idiot previous owners had painted the pool.
So the pool was drained,

and blasted,

and plastered

and life was good.
Except the owner couldn't be bothered to keep the pool chlorinated in the winter so every spring the pool was green, and much chlorinating and SLAMing was required to get it ready to swim in.

Nice!

I see a SWG in your future. Especially having a 30,000 gallon pool and using liquid chlorine. With the current price of liquid chlorine a SWG would pay for itself pretty quickly.

Then one day a sickness came over the land and the owner was forced to work from home. So with all the extra time available, the owner finally got off his butt and started building the automation he had always wanted to build.

Version 1 was build and installed along with new wiring and mostly worked,

But sensors were added, new pumps were required and improvements were needed in general so version 1.5 was built.

Version 1.5 worked well and for the last two years the pool has stayed blue all year long. But the man got bored and the wires got snarled,

So over the last month a new version 2 was designed, and today the boards came. And immediately there was much rejoicing and soldering.

A new controller board,

a new display board,

and a new relay interface board

And Sunday it will be installed and life will be good?

They only keep the Crud out of the filter, not the pool. I had a few pods/seeds get into the pump basket and sprout.

To be fair, there was soo much particulate matter in the pool that the flocculant actually was helpful. But the first couple of years we were buying shock by the case at Costco and I don't want to know how much we spent on silver algaecide. At least we managed to avoid the phosphate removers.

Marvelous thread!
One note * dolphin controllers are not waterproof nor should they be left in direct sun. They need to be protected from the weather.
Opinion- Adding a 60k gal rated swg will make this beautiful story have a really fantastic ending

Overall, the story is very believable and engaging.

I would recommend more character development for the protagonist and the antagonist and maybe introduce a foil character.

Perhaps create more character dialog and expound on the setting somewhat.

The denouement could be a little bit more detailed.

I’m looking forward the next installment.

I leave mine out so the robot can run on its schedule.

my controller is mounted inside the deck box I drilled holes & used cable sweep covers to run the cables through. Mine also runs on a schedule daily & the bot lives in the pool or on the deck during swim season .

When the temps are really hot out I do crack the box open so the inside temperature doesn’t get too high.

15 gallons of Chlorine and 15 gallons of muriatic acid diluted 4:1.

Any Ideas on what to do with my old pool sweep? I've already repurposed the return line for it as the pipe I put my eTape liquid level sensor in. So all it's doing is sitting and taking up space.

I'm also thinking about putting in a slight restriction in the line from the pump to the tank to encourage more flow through the sensor loop.
