Electrical question - what exactly is this thing?

We have an electrical conduit running from our pool equipment (pretty sure it’s specifically coming from the pool light transformer) all the way around the pool to the opposite end where it comes back above ground and there’s a black box attached. Like I said, I’m fairly certain that this is somehow tied to the pool light.

I really want an outlet on the far side of the pool (exactly where the electrical conduit comes back above ground). What are the chances there is electrical in that black box that we can tie into for an outlet?

Obviously I’ll hire an electrician to do the work, but I don’t want to waste their time if there’s no chance that conduit is already carrying electrical.

Photos attached. Thanks.

The black box is a pool light junction box. The light cord from the pool light runs to the junction box and then is connected to the wire to the transformer.

Yes, there is power in that box but it is switched 12-14 volts from the transformer and no use for installing an outlet.

I double that could be used for running power for an outlet. Most likely it's for the pool light.

Running direct burial wire or conduit shouldn't that challenging. A trencher or pipe/wire puller could do it pretty quickly (unless you have a sprinkler system). Could also be hand dug. Direct burial should be 24" below grade, plastic conduit 18" below grade and metal can be 12". For conduit keep the total number of bends to 360°or less.

Open up the box and check the voltage with a multimeter. Mine is old enough that it’s 120
Volts. So there’s a chance, but if the pool is newer then much less likely.
