We are in the process of building a pool house with outdoor cooking area in close proximity to our salt water pool, ~15ft away. We've only had the pool for a year. My question is should I purchase a marine grade built-in grill for my outdoor cooking area due to the corrosive nature of the salt water? Would a non-marine grade grill deteriorate faster in this environment? I'm looking at Blaze grills and they offer a marine grade stainless for about 1k more than the regular stainless.
 
Good news BoatDrinks !!!! Salt, CYA and Calcium don't evaporate, they stay behind in the water.

On top of that, many chlorine dosed pools accumulate salt levels near a 'salt pool' from all the Sodium Hyperchlorite (bleach) added, and several other regular pool chemicals. It'll only be 5% - 10% of seawater salinity either way, so no worries.

Poor quality materials, however, degrade due to moisture and the elements no matter what. The upgrade is probably worth it just because it's outside.

“Salt water” pool is really a misnomer. Pools that use salt water chlorine generators have a salinity that is typically around 3,500ppm. That is barely above the taste threshold for salt and one could generously describe water like that to be “brackish” at best. The danger of corrosion is no worse than what you’ll get from it just being outdoor in the elements.

That said, I agree with @Newdude - get it if you want to because it will be exposed to the elements and don’t worry about the pool. Also, make sure it is covered when not in use and keep it cleaned and well-maintained. That is the biggest driver for long life for a grille.

I have a Blaze Grill installed on an uncovered barbecue island. I do keep it covered with a BBQ cover. It's over 7 years old and still looks great with no signs of corrosion. The burners still cook evenly and start with the electronic igniter. I don't believe it would be worth upgrading to marine grade.

+1. Sounds real humidity-y by you. That's not to say the regular model is junk, just how much it would stink if the also not cheap model broke down, just outside of warranty of course.

Appreciate everyone’s quick response. Yes, the humidity down here isn’t for everybody! However last summer with the new pool was great! The kids loved it! We can’t wait for the pool house to be completed and our 1.5yr construction zone to be over.

I have a Blaze grill about 15 feet from my SWG pool. I have had it for about 5 years. No sign of corrosion, except on the dials. I may just replace those but it is a very light cosmetic amount. I have never covered my BBQ. I dont even own a cover. I would say in the summer, my humidity is the same as yours.

BTW. The Blaze grills have a lifetime warranty so why bother with the upgrade. I should check if the dials are covered by this warranty. I know I have had to replace the rubber rings on the dials and those were about $50 total (not covered).

Just note that the lifetime warranty does not cover what you want it to in this case:

Improper Maintenance, high cooking temperatures, excessive humidity, chlorine, fertilizers, lawn pesticides, chemicals, and salt can affect the Stainless Steel components and for these reasons, the warranties DO NOT COVER DISCOLORATION, SURFACE RUST, OR RUST, unless there is a loss of structural integrity / rust through of the appliance components. This warranty covers defects in material and workmanship.

No worries. Our salt water pool and outdoor kitchen are 15 years old. No significant corrosion. Disclaimer: The SWG was broken when we bought the house. Don't know how long. The water was at 2000 ppm salt at that point 3 years ago. It's been working at ~3100 ppm since then. We love it. Hope you have the same experience.
