White streaks in new pool?

Hello. Just had my pool built. It’s been filled up with water for about 2 weeks. It’s 17000 gallons chlorine. Already went through pool school and the water is pretty much in balance. But the last week or so I have noticed white spots and some streaks in the pebble. Is this mottling or could it be calcium bleeding through the pebble?

Builder wants to drain the pool and do a acid wash to remove the white streaks. From what I read on TFP this will degrade the life of the mini pebble and make it feel rougher. Any other suggestions?
Don't do it.

Even if it drives you crazy and you think you have to, the acid wash may make it worse and expose other areas of marbling.

You can acid wash eventually, way down the road and actually gain some debatable value from the process.

Right now, you're doing much more harm than good.

Based on the photos posted above, I wouldn't let them touch it with acid. I would chalk it up to that is the character of my pool and learn to live with it. Mine is a similar shade and has similar imperfections. It's what it is with darker finishes.

I had some interesting light streaks in my new pool when it was done. Either they have faded over time or i have gotten used to them since i no longer notice them anymore. I would let them be and let them run their natural course.

Thanks for the feed back. Since it’s only been a month going to give it 6 months to see if the streaks get worse or if the white coloring gets darker. My main concern with the acid wash is it seems like it is hit or miss with making the plaster rougher. Some say there pool got rougher and it etched it and some say the acid work good and the texture stayed the same.

As others stated. Do not acid wash. That's pretty typical and considered pretty normal expectations if you read the plaster manufacturers' warranties. Light streaks and darker mottling are just part of it with darker finishes. But, it does fade more over time, whereas mine is going on first year next month, and hardly notice any more unless darker sky. You'd be surprised how much of that is shading, difference in refraction, and not coloration - you didn't see when empty, don't see when lights on, don't see in full sun.

Brush the pool thoroughly at least once a week with a nylon/plastic (Not stainless steel) bristle brush.

Get a wide brush to make it easier and faster to brush.

Maintain the CSI in the -0.3 to 0.0 range.
