Instapark Betta 2 Service Manual

I've had my Betta 2 since April. It has worked out pretty well, except that one of the rotors spins a little slower than the other now. I suspect this is the kind of thing that can be cured with a little routine maintenance. I took the rotor apart about as far as I could (which which wasn't too far unfortunately).

Neither the website or user manual has a lot of information about routine maintenance. Heck, I wouldn't mind buying a pair of motors every season to swap them out myself.

So my question: Has anybody been able to get their hands on a service manual?

Hey Gd !!!

Last I read they were being shipped back to the manufacturer for repairs.

Have you found this thread yet ? It covers ALOT of ground. Hop in it and get in on the action.

Thank you. Yes, I saw it. I was hoping for something with a list of preventative maintenance tasks and/or remediations. (And how... In my case I managed to get the rotors off and gave them a good cleaning but I was worried about accidentally causing damage.)

I appreciate that Instapark is doing a good job supporting their product, but I am incredibly lazy (hence the Betta). I think it would be less effort for me to properly maintain it (there aren't many moving parts) than to rely on the warranty and shipping out a new unit every couple months. :)

No service manuals. Recommend the 3 year warranty. Only official remedy from instapark regarding sized motors is to spray them out really well with water and then WD-40 if that doesn’t work. I’ll send you a PM.

Has anyone figured out the port inside the cover? Don't unscrew the small head (a bit will fall off); the larger 4 pronged diameter is a bayonet. Rotate ccw slightly and pry out. There's a female plug, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I assume it's a charging port for factory use. It sure would be nice to charge this at night and let it run during the day! Especially for pools that are shaded, or overcast days. They're usually the cloudy stormy days that need the skimmer going!

Take some pictures. That might also be how they update the software. I’ve always been curious about it, but not curious enough to mess with it, lol.

Well, I just emailed them about it. Don't think they want to let us know what it does. Was impressed they replied within an hour on a Saturday.

"Thank you for contacting Betta.
I'm so sorry but our units are 100% solar powered. This means that the only way to charged is to put the unit in a direct sunlight."

this time of year i let my unit charge on a sunny part of my patio to allow for a more fully charging time.

I tried a standard small headphone jack in the connector under the panel, fits perfectly. Registers 3.3v with unit on. I'm guessing that's a 5v charging port for factory use. I don't have a charger with the correct plug. If I can't find one on Amazon, I may cut and splice something I have to try it out. The bayonet cap comes off easily, so would be quick to charge it manually (if this works).

No go with a 3A phone charger. From Bettabot:

"That plug is for releasing the pressure (breathing). Betta needs DIRECT sunlight to get charged."

I find that hard to believe, is sealed with an o-ring.

That port could be how they update the firmware on them. From your description it’s a 1/8 inch female jack? It makes sense to have that as they would have to take them apart to update them. The early versions of the original betas didn’t have this.
