VS pump speed - how to determine?

Welp I think I figured out why they have the spillover happening constantly :). The x’s are returns. There are no other returns (none on the right side of the pool) so without the spillover going I assume I’ll have a pretty big dead zone. And with just the spillover it won’t really skim too well. I think keeping spillover all the time is kinda needed for good skimming and surface circulation.

There are two skimmers they are both on the bottom wall of this picture.

Or am I wrong?

Spillover is normally not an effective skimming path. The water is not directional. I would do the scheduled spillover, and point the returns towards the side opposite of the skimmers. Try to get a CW flow going.

Thank you :) I’ll play with it a bit and worst case I’ll switch things back to “always spillover” like it is now.

I don't think your spillover always running adds anything to your pool operation.

I think you will be better off with scheduled spillover times during the day.

Just wanted to say this thread info seems like will help me with my new VSP and Aqualink set up. Have to figure out how to configure. Also I have a similar set up where my spillover runs all the time raising my pH and I always wondered if there is a way I stop it. Perhaps pictures of my set up with help! I will add those to my own thread.

It would be best to start your own thread and provide photos of your current VS pump settings however your signature shows you have a Single Speed pump so please update that with the correct info.
Also show a photo of your pool and denote skimmer and return placements if you have specific questions on those.
