Jandy AquaPure Service Light

What is your pump runtime and SWG %?

Your pool covered?

Running the Aquapure 1400 in your pool for 12 hours at 100% should generate 6.8ppm of FC.

Post the history of your water chemistry tests for the last few weeks.

Do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test and confirm you don't have an algae problem consuming your chlorine.

A 121 error can occur for a number of different reasons: dirty cell, damaged cell, bad cell cable, low salt level, cell wearing out due to age, or damaged power supply.

Test the salt level with a K-1766 Taylor Salt Test.

Pin Corrosion

A common reason for the cell failing and getting error codes 120, 121 or 123 is one or more of the pins corroding and separating from its plate. Most common is the center pin.

You can remove the two screws holding down the plate over the prongs and check the base of the prongs.

The cell cannot be repaired even though the plates may have life left in them.

Some members add dielectric grease to the pins when they do their annual work on the filter and check the cell.

How old is the cord and cell?

Look for the codes above. Typically the jandy cells fail ~ 4 yrs so 2 yrs seems premature but the typical failure seems to always be the center pin attachment to the plates. My last one made it 3yrs and then with plenty of plate life left had the common pin corrosion failure. Frankly I’m done with jandy as this has been a quality control issue for some time and they’ve done zilch to redesign the failure point. In fact their whole attitude towards pool owners in general is pretty poor.

After some reading, I ordered the platium replacement from saltpoolstore.com. It’s essentially a compupool cell that they relable and warrant for 5yrs. At $400 and some good reviews shown on here. I ordered one too., nice thing is it bolts right in and has a clear section so you can see it in action.

It was shipped from Australia but surprisingly showed up a week later at my door in california. Fastest I’ve ever seen anything go though customs. I installed it this morning and it’s working perfectly. Be aware it comes with zero installation instructions But it’s really a just replace in kind.

Here’s a pic of my old cell showing the pin to plate connection failure these cells are famous for. E2A7793C-BD29-4F08-B7F9-437BCDF2FF22.jpeg

Did you try to submit a warranty claim? I believe it is covered for 3 years. Jandy doesn't allow homeowners to work on Jandy equipment. Do not change the cable if you have one. Also, do not remove the the cell. I had my same cell go bad after 8 months(1 full season, plus a month or so of the second season). My PB told me I voided the warranty by removing the cell and swapping in a new cell that I had. I called Jandy, and they sent me a new cell and cable, but insisted that a warranty service center replace the cable.

Most likely is the center pin has corroded and the cell needs to be replaced. Running 100% for 12 hours/day will generate a lot of heat on the pins. My unit gets hot and I run at 75% to give me my required chlorine. If your pool builder gives you any problems, just call Jandy(Fluidra), and if you have registered your cell, they most likely will send you a new one.

To the OP, If you installed a complete aquapure system it has a 3 yr warranty and sendosteve is correct. Leqve it alone and assembled then Call jandy and they will have a pool company come look at it and repair/replace any bad parts. If it’s a replacement cell that failed in 2020 be advised they only have a 1 yr. Warranty and typically jandy requires proof the installation was performed by a licensed pool repair place to even honor that. basically worthless for a home diy guy like me.
