Hello...I replaced the circuit board to a Easytouch 8 and now my pentair Screenlogic app shows I lost comm to the chlorinator. All wires appear to be secure, powered unit on/off, salt level shows 0, salt cell shows all green lights, everything looks good and a green light in the Pentair salt electronic box.

Does anyone know if I have a bad flow switch to my IC40 if that would make it lose communications?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forum.
No, the flow switch has nothing to do with communications.
Can you adjust the IC via the Easytouch?

Thanks, I can adjust the following pic… is that what you mean?

In the pic the pool mode was 62%...I can adjust that on Easytouch...

R,

Show us some pics of the inside of the EasyTouch showing the main board that you replaced and your wiring.

As a test, you need to use ScreenLogic and adjust the cell's output to 100%, then wait 5 minutes and go outside and look at the cell and see if it shows 100%. Then use ScreenLogic and adjust the output to 20% and then look at the cell and see if it moved to 20%.

Tell us why you replace the main board?

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the response...When I change the % on easytouch it does not change the salt cell...The salt cell is only changed when pressing the buttons on the salt cell.

I initially changed out the circuit board because the sensors were way off, air and water. I manually disconnected the sensors and somehow a temp was still showing. The pump would think it is freezing or sometimes up to 150 degress. Both sensors were replaced and this did not solve anything.

Pentair told me I had a bad board, so I bought the only one I could find off EBAY, it was new...now im wondering if I got a bad board...

Thanks!

R,

I only see two devices connected to the J20 com bus.

The black one with just two wires is for your IntelliFlo pump

I assume the other one is for your ScreenLogic..

I do not see one that should be going to your SWCG power center. If you don't connect the power center to the J20 com port, you will get the problem you are having.

Please let me know if I missed something.

Show me a pic of the wires going into the power center.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Jim, is there anyway the salt cell can be getting power, here is a pic I took before removing the board…. And what is the power center?? Are you talking about the secondary salt box?

You are missing the 4 wire RS485 connection from the SWCG power center to the J20 comm bus connection in the EasyTouch.

The SWCG has power. It is the communications cable that is not installed. At some time that cable was removed.

MK...thanks, is this something I can buy from amazon or pentair? Also...can you let me know where this is hooked up? I assume from J20 to ??? Is it a 4 wire system?
Thanks!

R,

It is not a special cable... It is just a 22-gauge 4-wire cable that you can buy at Home Depot by the foot. Most likely the colors won't match, but that does not matter as long as each end is connected to the same pins.

J20 has 4 pins and the com port inside the Power center has a com port with the same 4 pins. Just wire from J20 pin 1 to power center pin 1, pin 2 to pin 2, etc. for all 4 pins.

It would have been impossible for the cell to communicate without this cable. Either it was removed, or it has never worked.

Who could have removed it???

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks so much! This system is over 10 years old, and I just started getting the alert...but I have no clue...I know there werent 4 wires from control to J20, because it would have had to go thru conduit...and it just isnt there....so Im stumped!
I will go to Home Depot soon and report back....again, Thanks so much!

You are absolutely correct....maybe they had an update and just started showing an alert....which made me think something was wrong.
So if I run the 4 wires, I will be able to set the % at the easytouch panel now? Will it also show the salt ppm on easytouch? Right now, it shows zero ppm for salt...

im finally understanding this system now...thanks!
