Hi all - I’m new to the forum; joining because we are about to embark on a pool remodel (necessitated by a cracked and leaking skimmer, and broken/raised coping under the palm tree). I could use some help with design and placement of the new hot tub that we plan to add to the pool. Currently wondering if we should do a slightly raised hot tub on the outside of the pool at the back left corner/curve, or add the hot tub to the interior of the pool at that same curve (this is the deep end and current location of the skimmer). Welcome to TFP!

Here in drought country, you want to be able to cover the pool to reduce evaporation. Your pool is almost rectangular, so you could consider a motorized automatic cover. In that case, you want the spa level with the pool so the cover can cover both.

If you add a spa to the inside of the pool at the deep end, this will take a lot of materials (Shotcrete and rebar) to make up the elevation difference from being in the deep end, can be done but something to think about.

Aqua-holics - thanks for the sketch! Do you think it would be less work/less expensive to do the excavation required to have the spa next to/adjacent to the pool and slightly raised as in your drawing, as compared to the Shotcrete + rebar to do this in the deep end of the pool? Would it be possible to do something like the image below with a circular spa that is half in/half out of the existing pool footprint, or does it make more sense to have it fully outside the existing footprint? Currently leaning towards something like the picture with the spa fully inside the existing pool footprint - Would definitely make things easier from a pool cover perspective as noted by Rocket.0383138E-1EAF-4D2E-A15E-1489501DCF33.jpeg
