Just wanted to put it here that I purchased a 24 foot 12mil solar cover for our pool, put it onto the pool and it is larger than the pool by about 6-8 inches. It's a good thing vs being smaller but that means trimming it down to fit the pool. In this day I guess it's good to get more than you paid for! ;) :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

My solar cover is much larger than my pool, by feet and I haven't cut it. I just fold it or let it hang over.Capture.JPG

I just trimmed mine to fit last week. It had folds everywhere, and stagnant rainwater sitting in them. (I was concerned the Algae Family was sending out invitations to their 2022 reunion to be held at our pool!)

Now it fits nicely and even has a couple slots cut in to accommodate the ladder. When rainwater is sitting on it now, I just nudge it over toward the skimmer with a gentle spray of the garden hose. Note: Skimmer always has a hairnet in it, so not much cleanup is required, and filter remains pretty clean. So far, I like it.

We did that for our last pool, the solar cover went up to the steps, kept the cover from going around and around as well! :D

Why We Trimmed Our Cover

We live on top of a hill out in the country. When removing the cover, once we have about 5' of it off, it becomes a potential UFO. We get a pretty steady west wind.

One time earlier this year my 14 yr. old grandson and I were pulling the untrimmed cover off the pool when a big gust of wind grabbed it from our (rather loose) grasp. It ended up about 12 feet due east of the pool! It also triggered a small stampede of four of my wife's horses in the upper pasture. By the time we got done laughing and looking at my wife's stunned look, it had almost rolled itself up into a rather large inedible blue taco. :laughblue:

Note: Don't eat a blue taco's...
