Should I SLAM?

I know my CYA is high at 100 and I've been having a hard time keeping our chlorine level at the appropriate level. I've been doing some testing on our FC and CC with our Taylor 2006c kit.
Thursday
FC .5
CC .5
So I added enough chlorine in the afternoon to get it to 9ppm when I tested at 10pm. (Friday)
I then took a sample of our water at 5:40am before the sun came out, took the sample indoors and tested a few hours later-FC 2.5 and CC .5.
I retested a new sample of the water at 11am and FC 1.5 and CC .5
(At one point the CC was at 1 but I got it down to .5)
Should I be SLAMing my pool? Is that why I can’t keep my chlorine level up? Eventually, I would like to drain my pool at least half ways to get the calcium and CYA down. For too long we’ve been relying on the pool store to test our water🙄

The test results I’ve logged so far…

Drain enough water to get your CYA down to around 50 or so (that's half your pool) and then SLAM. You don't report your CH so I assume that's in excess of our guidelines, too.

A pool with a CYA above 70-80 is difficult to manage. You will find it much easier after the CYA reduction and the SLAM.

Based on your PM logs, both your CH (575) and CYA (100) are high. The best course of action is to drain at least 50% of pool water and replace. You should test your fill water to determine what the TA and CH values are for that as well.

While your CC has been 0.5 you are on the brink of algae as it your FC continues to drop below 8ppm which is the absolute minimum for a CYA of 100. Also, is possible that the the CYA is higher than 100? The test via a K2006 only goes to 100 so you could have more than 100.

Once you drain - post a new set of data. You can add a note to your PM logs regarding the date you drained and refilled so you can track a change in water.

My fill water has a CYA of less than 30. I could clearly see the dot at 30. The CH is 75.

I’m going to start draining my pool to 50%. How will I know When I’ve drained half? Do I eye ball based on the deep end of the pool?

Fill water should have zero CYA. Your CH of 75ppm is quite low - you are lucky. Did you test your TA?

You have a 25k gal pool, so you just have to estimate based on average depth.

The fill water has a TA of 125

I’m draining half of the volume now. When i done filling. I’ll test my CYA again. If it’s at the ideal range I then SLAM according to chart/instructions, complete the SLAM process…THEN take care of my TA, right?
Correct. Focus on the CYA decline so you can SLAM.
When you test after refill, be sure to test all pH, FC, CH, TA and CYA. Be sure to get your pH to low 7’s (7.2) before SLAM.
Good Luck.

I figure while I’m partially draining the pool, I could clean it a bit.

How do I clean my plaster? Based on the pictures should I be worried or is it normal for plaster to look like that after a while? AND are those greenish spots algae?!

I got my CYA down to 50 and CH to 425. I lowered my PH to 7.2 and have began SLAM. Do I vacuum this stuff to waste or can I use my robot/dolphin S300?
