Hi… I have this exact same issue with my iAquaLink-controlled Jandy VSP pump. Did you ever figure out what was causing it? Jandy tech support told me to hard reset the controller. I did measure the pump housing temperature with an infrared thermometer and it was 167F right after it turned off when the ambient temperature was 85F. From research I’ve done, this is not “too” hot, but who knows. Any help you can provide is much appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.
Sorry you have not received any replies. Could you better describe what is occurring?

Sorry for my late reply… thanks for your offer to help! I have a Jandy VSPHP270AUT pump with an iQPump01 wireless interface using iAquaLink app version 6.4.2. Regardless of whether my pump is running on its normal schedule, a manual schedule, or in quick clean mode, it randomaly starts and stops throughout its cycle. The length of time between starts and stops as well as the length of time that it runs and is off are all random. Usually, though, it stays on for several minutes then shuts off for several minutes, then on, repeat. Interestingly, when it shuts off during this time, the app shows that it’s still running even thought it’s not. I measured the temperature of the pump housing with an infrared thermometer and it registered 167F with an 85F ambient morning temperature. I called Jandy and their initial solution is to hard reset the interface which I have yet to do. I have found others with this problem in various forums but the discussions typically die-off before a solution is announced. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I would remove the wireless device and see if the pump runs it’s scheduled time.

I’ll give that a try. Pardon my ignorance, but there is no interface of any kind directly on the pump nor the wireless device. Thanks he only way to run it is via the app. If I disconnect the controller how will it run the schedule? I did not install this setup… it was here when I bought the house, so I k ow very little about it. Thanks.

OK -- so that is one of the pumps they sold with no standalone pump controller. You are stuck. Try removing all power from everything for a while and fire it back up.

@PoolGate has more experience with Jandy products.

Are you saying you don't have the full Aqualink controller? Does your app only control the pump? Can you post a pic of the equipment pad including any wall boxes with the door opened plus the pump?

I forgot to mention that I do not have an iAquaLink controller- the app is the only way I can control any pump functions other than the few options listed on the wireless controller face in the picture above, and the app only controls the scheduling and speed, as far as I can tell. It’s a pretty basic app. Here is a pic of the pump status screen:

I’ll check all the connections and ultimately will hard reset the controller. I did read somewhere else about a bad relay causing these types of issues with Jandy VSPs but never really was able to figure what specific relay or where it would be located. Does that make any sense with respect to my issue?

Open the power box on the top back part of the motors drive. The two screws over the tiny black plate.

Kill all power before doing so. In that box there is a red plug with four wires plugged into it, pull it off.

Un screw those four wires, red 1, black 2, yellow 3 , green 4. Then make two jumper wires for the red "plug" you took off.

One of the new jumper wires goes into the #1 and #3 slot.
The other jumper wire goes into the #2 and #4 slots.
Install the red plug back into it's spot.

Give the pump power, in 3 mins it will fire up.
The pump will run without the control antenna etc.....

Its factory set at 2750 rpms. It will have to be turned on/off when you want. If that works you need a new antenna.

You need to replace the antenna. But with two jumper wires at least your pump is under your control until you do so.

Edit. Try turning your phone to airplane mode before control. Then going through the steps you take to manage your pump. Stay off the home wifi network if you can. Airplane mode only. Only use the remote to phone wifi. Which isnt really wifi.

I have a similar issue. The pump runs fine without stops in schedule mode (except that it randomly goes to priming speed, even though it has been running for hours). Problem is in manual mode when started from the app. It randomly stops. We noted that if we turn on the pump manually in the evening after the regular schedule to run the spa. When the pump then randomly stops the heater trips on low flow and we had to get out to start it again. The solution for the issue was to program another schedule which would run all night and only activate it when we want to run the pump outside of the regular schedule. After we are done with the spa, we turn the night schedule off. So schedule operation is reliable, manual operation randomly stops.
