SOS spa blower algae

I’ve posted about this before but still am seeing a recurrence unfortunately. Dark brown flecks spitting out when we turn on spa blowers. Currently I have the pool in spa mode (last 2+ hours) and the chlorine up to SLAM level in the spa. Any other things I can do? It only comes out when we also use the blowers. Which may be where it’s hiding or just the force jiggles it out. Any advice appreciated

I don’t think that is algae. If you rub it between your fingers does it smear into a green slime?

I think that is foam that is deteriorating from around your blower motor. Open up and remove the plastic cap and look at the interior of the blower.

What model blower do you have?

On occasion it’s been a lighter brown and It’s very thin and breaks apart in my hand.

It smears into a black/brown slime

That does not sound like algae.

I see we have a Hayward SPB102

I would remove the blower from its pipe and examine what is inside the pipe.

I woudl also take off the upper lid of the blower and examine the insides.

I don;t think running a SLAM on the pool will accomplish anything.

Ok. Appreciate that. I see one screw that holds it onto the pipe. Is that an easy thing to lift off and look into?

The blower should be held onto the pipe by that one screw. Although some builders have glued blowers on. You will find out when you try and lift it off.

Pipe looks ok. Is it ever helpful to pour something in from this end? My other thoughts is something brews between the air and water when it’s sitting for long periods.

I have never heard of that being done.

Algae usually does not grow in the dark. It requires light and photosynthesis. So I would not expect algae to grow in pipes.

That does not look like algae or anything organic.

What happens when you rub a piece between your fingers?

Might be a case to use Ahhsomme cleaner on just the spa. Then dump the water from the spa.

Can you provide instructions on time for that to circulate in an attached spa? We had issues with getting adequate circulation to the spa, but that was last year. We have had this problem with our blowers for some time.

It looks to me like decaying leaves that are breaking apart.

Post pics of your equipment pad so we can see how you have things setup.
