All stirred up

Before I start adding this DE my clean pressure is 14psi. So I should only backwash when it reaches 24psi correct?
Currently it’s reading 18.5psi so I’ll add the DE until it hits 19.5 psi
It’s already time to backwash- 25% of 14 is 3.5 , 14+3.5 = 17.5 psi
Backwash now - then add the de until pressure rises by 1 psi

Noted. Now going forward when I backwash I have to redo the adding of the DE after every backwash? And where do I store this huge back of DE now lol. It’s in a paper ish bag I don’t want to put it anywhere where it will end up being inhaled by mistake.

If I get the 25# DE bags and they are paper, I leave it in there and place the entire bag in a 39 gallon trash bag and zip tie it shut till I need it again. It will stay secure and dry like that.

Yes - it must be replaced every time u backwash (if u wish to have the fine filtering properties)
If u aren’t going to be around to occasionally monitor pressure & backwash don’t add any. After u go a few rounds with it you will know about how long u can go between backwashes.
I keep mine in a bucket with a lid in my shed.

One more point of note is what ever the amount it takes to achieve 1 psi rise will be the the same every time so take a large cup, add that and check after 5 minutes then again and again until the 1 psi registers on the gauge and make a note of how many cups it took, that will be your magic number going forward and can be dumped in one shot.

Good evening,
I just did an evening brushing of my walls and turned the light on and found it to be a bit cloudy near the light. Is this normal?
Could this be stirred up plaster dust from brushing?
Daily FC loss seems to be consistent and I don’t see any drops overnight that would make me think something brewing.
Man, I consider my pool clearer-than-clear, and even I can't get my light to look as clear as it does in your photo at night.

Really? Man I should’ve taken a photo last night after removing the light and cleaning behind it there was so much cloudiness and particles in the light beam last night. Weird because during the day it looks so crisp and clean.

It’s a pool light thing. They catch EVERYTHING in the water. Here’s my best cleanest photo.
