UV Protection for Salt Cell

I recently (finally!) installed a CircuPool RJ 45+ SWG into my pool setup. I live in the Phoenix metro area, and my equipment pad is in full sunlight all day, so I am very concerned about UV degradation. I built a well ventilated enclosure for the SWG control box, so that is out of the sun. I am now looking at how to minimize the direct sun exposure for the salt cell itself. I have the cell mounted vertically, and my current thinking is to get a piece of 6 inch ID sewer pipe and just slip it over the SWG, leaving the top and bottom open for ventilation. Before I start this next Rube Goldberg project I wanted to ask what others have done to keep the sun off their SWG cell.

Thanks in advance for all suggestions.

I found used sunscreens at the thrift store and adapted them to cover the entire equipment area. I also loosely wrapped two layers of the sunscreen material around the cell. Its held in place with a tie wrap on my horizontal install.

Any chance of pics of the control box enclosure? I'm in need of something to protect it from the rain (if we ever get any).

When they assembled my pad, I foresaw the dogs chewing on the power cord so I took a circular saw to a milk crate for protection. Now that I have the general area blocked off, I left it in place as the SWGs very own veranda. When the price of lumber returns to earth I will build a lean-to type roof

My existing power & timer box is mounted on a couple of well anchored 3/4 inch posts, which have threads on the top. I picked up 2 additional 24 inch posts and connected them above the power box. I bought a storage box at HD, drilled several 2 inch holes in it for ventilation and painted it something other than matte black. I made a framework of 1 inch PVC pipe to go over the 3/4 inch steel posts and made a section to connect between the two posts to hang the RJ control box. Not a great description, I know. I can give a more detailed description if anyone wants.

When I plumbed in the SWG I was already thinking about the 6 inch drain pipe to cover it, so I made sure there was plenty of pipe above the unit so I could raise the drain pipe cover and still have room to remove the SWG if needed.
