Hey- hoping to get some help with this. I've been using the TFP method for 5 years and I'm very familiar with the tests.
Short version:
SLAMMED the pool due to cloudy water last night (nothing green or yellow). Pool Math told me that adding 3 gallons of LC would bring my FC to 24. But the reading is now 46... it took 96 drops of reagent to make the water clear. Why did it do this? I've done many of these tests and it has never gone that high.
Long version:
1) I converted to SWG three days ago (Circupool RJ-45+) and upgraded to VS pump (Pentair Superflo). This was a DIY job, so my balanced water sat for two days at 1-2ppm of FC while I worked out some piping and electrical snags.
2) I added a phosphate remover (yes, I'm aware of their reputation on the forum) as the level was 4000 and I wanted to start with it closer to 0 according to the Circupool manual. So I wasn't sure if the cloudy water was the phosphates in suspension or the start of algae.
3) I also added too much salt blindly following the pool stores instruction of 6 bags
4) Partially drained/refilled the pool to get the salt to 3800 so the SGW would work- the pump and chlorinator work great
5) Worked the last 2 days to get the water balanced to new SWG levels (lowering TA, raising CYA, keeping pH at 7.5)
6) But the water was still cloudy, not green at all, so I thought it was still the phosphate remover doing its thing
7) Added a new filter last night which usually clears things right up
8) Turned salt cell off and SLAMMED the pool with 10.5% LC according to pool math app recommendations (3 gallons)... measured FC at 45 ppm with CYA at 60.
9) Water still cloudy and very un-swimmable.
So, what happened and how can I get the water into balance? I leave for vacation tomorrow and thought the SWG would keep things blue while I'm gone, not it's all a mess. With that high of CYA, it's going to take forever for the FC to drop to range with no algae present. Do I need to drain/refill a little again? Can I run the SWG very low with the FC levels that high?
Tests pre-SLAM and post SLAM

Test post-SLAM

Thanks,
Mike
