Passed the overnight test again. Checked CYA and it’s at CYA 40. Will check when I get home from work today if FC loss is again big. Currently FC 16.5
OK so we can rule out organic matter with back to back passes in OCLT. The reason we care is if we raise your CYA and you need to SLAM after, it raises your target FC and is more expensive/difficult to maintain the higher FC.Passed the overnight test again.
Step two : verify abnormal FC loss to prove CYA isn't where it needs to be. The test is subjective and pics don't always capture everything perfect. How many times have we seen the phrase 'the pics don't do it justice' ? Heck. Even the pool itself can loom entirely different in person, only 30 minutes apart. Will check when I get home from work today if FC loss is again big. Currently FC 16.5
So I’m at 8.5 lost 10 ppm. CYA still checking in at 40.OK so we can rule out organic matter with back to back passes in OCLT. The reason we care is if we raise your CYA and you need to SLAM after, it raises your target FC and is more expensive/difficult to maintain the higher FC.

Many people have had to redefine their perception of the test after the fact. The standard solution is helpful here because you could compare the known value and use how that looks against your own value. But we'll figure it out on the fly.
So 2-4 PPM daily loss is average and earlier in the season in the NorthEast you wouldn't be maxed out on most days. Keep us posted.
Not without buying more reagent.Anyway to check if my cya test is accurate?
Well I have two bottles of CYA Reagent. One from last year and one I purchased this year which I’ve been using. I have a 3rd bottle on the way. The thing is I had these in my garage. Not without buying more reagent.
You are free and clear to add 10 PPM of CYA per PoolMath. Report back once you road test it.![]()
Increase CYA +10.was lost when you said add 10ppm of cya?
Ah. Got it. Ok 2 Lbs in Grandmas crocheted sock it went. Do I continue doing anything chlorine wise or just let this ride now?Increase CYA +10.
2 lbs of granulated cyanuric acid / dry stabilizer.
Ensure you won't go below minimum. You had 2 days of 8-10 FC loss. Expect similar tomorrow. It may take a day to show up once the CYA has all squished out of the sock.Do I continue doing anything chlorine wise or just let this ride now?
