Does anyone have photo examples of the different concrete decking finishes? Our builder is suggesting a sugar finish, but we are having a hard time finding any recent photo examples of this online. We're going for a modern aesthetic so we'd like the concrete decking to be as smooth as possible. We're not super worried about it being slippery when wet as we've got no plans for children. Is sugar finish the best approach? Are their photos people would be willing to share?
 
If you just fast forward to the end, it shows the finished produce-to me it just looks like a method of exposing the aggregate and to me not a modern aspheric at all. I am adding a pic of mine-not sure it is extremely modern-maybe more contemporary

To me the most modern looking finish for concrete is with a light sand blast. To heavy sand blast will expose to much the aggregate and a light sand blast will just smooth everything. Very light/gentle Broom finish if done right can look modern too but it is challenging if there is not much space to work around the concrete deck.

The key for a great looking concrete is the decorative saw cuts to make it look like blocks.

I cannot answer about the product you specify but one advice is that light colored concrete will need to have a good penetrating sealer otherwise it will be a nightmare to keep clean. I am still waiting for my concrete guy to come seal mine and so far it is not easy to keep clean.
 
A ton of progress has been made recently.
- Concrete was poured
- 8' Redwood fence was installed
- Coping + Tile installed
- Arctic white stacked stone installed
- Pool equipment installed (sort've...)

We had all of our pool equipment installed yesterday afternoon. Everything except for the Pentair Intelliflo pump. Looks like there's a pump shortage at the moment and this particular pump won't be available for a few weeks, holding up our project.

Our pool builder mentioned the Pentair Superflo pump might be easier to get ahold of and based on the fact that we don't have any water features or a large pool the Superflo pump would likely suit our needs just fine. Any concerns with going with the Pentair Superflo pump instead of the Intelliflo pump? We could always upgrade to the Intelliflo pump in the future if we felt it was necessary right?

What's the latest? Love the selections you made, really looks nice. When you said redwood fence my head went old school vertical and the horizontal look, looks awesome!!

Mini Pebble French Gray was applied Friday afternoon and then the acid wash was done Saturday afternoon. We started filling up right after that and finished around 3am Sunday morning.

We're just waiting for the startup tech to come out and get it going/show us how to make it work. :LOL:
Seeing it fill up was honestly one of the best days of my life.

We love the color! Can't wait to jump in for the first time! Just waiting on our new furniture to arrive now...
