Time to slam again?

Passed the overnight test again.
OK so we can rule out organic matter with back to back passes in OCLT. The reason we care is if we raise your CYA and you need to SLAM after, it raises your target FC and is more expensive/difficult to maintain the higher FC.

Step one : rule out something growing ✅
Will check when I get home from work today if FC loss is again big. Currently FC 16.5
Step two : verify abnormal FC loss to prove CYA isn't where it needs to be. The test is subjective and pics don't always capture everything perfect. How many times have we seen the phrase 'the pics don't do it justice' ? Heck. Even the pool itself can loom entirely different in person, only 30 minutes apart.

Many people have had to redefine their perception of the test after the fact. The standard solution is helpful here because you could compare the known value and use how that looks against your own value. But we'll figure it out on the fly.

So 2-4 PPM daily loss is average and earlier in the season in the NorthEast you wouldn't be maxed out on most days. Keep us posted.

So I’m at 8.5 lost 10 ppm. CYA still checking in at 40.
:(
Anyway to check if my cya test is accurate?

Not without buying more reagent.

You are free and clear to add 10 PPM of CYA per PoolMath. Report back once you road test it. :)
Well I have two bottles of CYA Reagent. One from last year and one I purchased this year which I’ve been using. I have a 3rd bottle on the way. The thing is I had these in my garage.
I just retested with last years reagent and got 30 cya. But even with a 30 cya doing a SLAM would’ve required less FC than what I have been shooting for. But in any way if the 30 is true would hold true that then all would be ok?
I was lost when you said add 10ppm of cya?

Ensure you won't go below minimum. You had 2 days of 8-10 FC loss. Expect similar tomorrow. It may take a day to show up once the CYA has all squished out of the sock.
As of this morning FC is 7
I did a cya test and would you call this 60 or 50?

8am this morning was FC 8, checking in now after work FC 6 so I seem to be good now. Assuming it was a low CYA and getting incorrect reading with reagent. New CYA bottle should arrive Thursday and I will compare test with new reagent to current reagent Im using.
