So I was cleaning my tcell and was trying to remember which direction it was supposed to be. Then I remembered it didn’t matter but in my reading I read that the flow switch needs 12” of straight pipe before it? Does that mean mine was installed wrong? 0A93B8BB-39DF-4836-A234-77BFF84433CA.jpeg
Is this another thing my builder did wrong?

C,

There are "theoretical" requirements, and there are real world, will it work requirements.

In the big picture, your flow switch will work fine right where it is. Even if there was an additional 12" of straight pipe, I doubt that you'd ever be able to tell the difference in operation.

If you were rebuilding the system, it would make sense to do it right, but I would not replumb just for this one issue.

Thanks,

Jim R.

It's ok. It should work. You might have issues if you have a 2-speed or variable-speed pump and operate too low, but likely not even then.
It should have been installed the other way around: cell, then flow switch (since Hayward says you can count the length of the cell in the "straight flow" length). Doing it cell first guarantees that you have the straight length necessary.

But I wouldn't sweat it.
