Hot Tub disposal

Hi, I have a hot tub that is pushing 20 years, that I am contemplating getting rid of. It is a big 7 person tub with an acrylic liner. Is there an economical way to get rid of this myself, or do I just bite the bullet and pay (hundreds?) for someone to remove it. I am thinking of cutting it up and putting it out for bulk trash bit by bit.
Thanks

Several guys - free beer 🍺 & a ride to the dump 🤷‍♀️
Not sure what kinda neighborhood u live in but around here i see one on the side of the road every now & then, the county picks them up.

Thanks all for the suggestions. We don't have a dump. Maybe I will offer it up, but it is on its last legs and I am not sure I want to push it off on someone who may not be aware of the problems.

Where are you located? Check you county or town website.

For example, I doubt my trash company would pick up a hot tub (maybe, they do appliance and furniture if you call them first, but not construction debris, a hot tub is iffy). However I can dump at my county transfer stations. It's not a dump, it is where all the garbage trucks tip, and then it is loaded onto trucks and hauled to a landfill in an other state.

An other option is something like College Hunks Hauling Junk, or other services like that (we have some local ones too that are not chains)

Many commercial/residential haulers offer bulk pickup service. When I was in Durham, you just left it out by the road and once a month, they came by with the bulk truck and took it. Here in Wentworth, I have to call Waste Management to be scheduled, then on bulk pickup day, they come and get it.

+1 to Craigslist or Freecycle. It's been my experience that even bulky items get taken fast if you post on Craigslist for free. Even if you're up front about condition. Seems there's always someone that will take a chance on something free.

Also on any Facebook resale groups - list it as a FREE! curb alert 🚨 I’ve seen alot of interest in some really rough stuff.

I live on a County road that is one of the major roads through town. I have a left many things at the curb. Broken lawnmowers, chairs, playhouses, all sorts of stuff. If I put it out on a nice weekend, it is usually gone in an hour or two. Once I put some stuff out, walked back to my garage to get the "FREE" sign I made, and when I went back to the curb it was gone. I have also had people take everything, including the piece of 1/4" plywood I had written "FREE" on.

A hot tub may be iffy, because the person has to be driving a vehicle that can take it, but you are correct, there are a lot of people who will take just about anything if it is free.
