Hello!

I’m helping a friend begin to maintain her own pool. She has a Pentair clean and clear 320 filter. I have a sand so some things I’m unsure of. The opening was hard as she had a temp cover so it was swamp like! It was opened by a pool company this year. We are still working on the water balance.

The filter pressure is now 20. I’m unsure if we need to clean the cartridges and if so how? Also her salt is not working so the maintenance people last year added a chlorinator instead.
Any idea why it’s wet in the pic below?
Any tips or tricks on this filter?

Thank you in advance!

c,

The leak is because something in the air relief valve assembly is leaking. Could be at the base, where it attaches to the filter top, or the air relief itself, or the gauge. You will just have to look closer to see where it is leaking.

20 lbs. is probably correct with a single speed pump. Does she not know what her normal clean pressure used to be?

What does the water pressure "feel" like at the pool returns? If you have a good flow of water back to the pool, I would not open the filter right now.

If you are running a bunch of dirty green water through the filter it will clog pretty quickly and the flow will go away.

To clean the cartridges you need to shut off the pump and drain the filter using the plug in the bottom, then remove the band. Removed each of the 4 cartridges and hose them off. Any idea how old they are?

Tell her that I'd rather fill my pool in as have it not be a saltwater pool..

Thanks,

Jim R.
