Water leaking during shocking

First time pool owner. We hired a pool company to open our pool for us for the first time. They are shocking the pool and leave the pump running as usual. Over the night, we observed the water level dropped from half to near the bottom of the skimmer line and the pump got almost no water. Shall we fill in water to complete the shock or fix the leak first?

It's an old pool. The skimmer is made out of concrete and I suspect it's at least one of the leaks. I'm attaching a picture of it. The dark ring is concrete with small stones, looks stable though. Does my guess make sense? Can I fix it by coating/patching the skimmer structure? Can I install a skimmer liner on top of the old one?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to TFP! Continuing with a SLAM Process is fine, but if you are losing water you are also losing chemicals. You definitely want to find teh leak as soon as possible.

Thanks for the responses. My dilemma is that filling water to proceed the SLAM prevents me from diagnosing the leaks. Since the water level is already low, can I quickly patch the skimmer before resuming the SLAM? Any suggestions about how to patch?
Just a suggestion... chlorine is the most important part of the slam. The filter should be going yes, but, I think that you could add chlorine by pouring it around the pool and then bushing well with a brush to mix it up..while you work on the leak.
It will at least help to not backslide.
