My 20+ year original vinyl liner is finally done :( A tear at the bottom has been patched but I need to get a new liner this season. Pool is kidney shaped, 6 ft in deep end, 3ft in shallow, fiberglass walk-in. No waterfall, diving board or other accessories. No dogs.
I am looking for advice on what to look for when getting quotes. I've made note of the questions in this thread: First time replacing liner. What questions do I ask

- Is thicker better? One company says they only install 30mil. Will that impact on the life of the liner?
- Are all manufacturers pretty similar in quality (not sure which each deals with but likely a Canadian manufacturer)
- Does the pool have to be empty to be measured? Is that because of the shape?
- Can the pool stay empty until the liner is received (1-3 weeks according to one company's website) or will I have to refill then empty again?
- One company said they also repair minor wall/floor damage and replace all gaskets/faceplates. I plan to ask for specifics but I understand that we won't know extent of repairs until the old liner is removed.
What else do I need to ask about?
TIA!!
