Plumbing on Sand Filter

This is my replumbing job on my AG pool. I used unions in strategic locations so dis-assembly would be easy when I take everything apart for winter storage. I have had this set up for 3 seasons now. Take-down and set up are so much easier. Everything is trheaded and teflon taped for easy replacement of components if needed.

Looks awesome! Do you need to glue or use Teflon when connecting pvc pipe to the union?

Unfortunately the people who installed that before did you no favors. It will need to be cut to unscrew that adapter from the pump. Not the worst DIY thing to do. We can certainly help guide you if you need some help.
Ended up only having to cut the pipe on the veritcal pvc and installed a union. Thought I did it right but when I turned on the filter it was spraying. Turns out the O-ring fell out without me noticing. Replaced that and works like gold!!

Changed out the sand as well. There was a huge hole in the standpipe so I bought new piece and we’re good to go. Hoping that was the issue with my filtering problems as my water chemistry is on point!

Thanks for the help. The attached image is with the new union installed.

I glued the unions and threaded ends to the pipe and wrapped the theaded ends with teflon tape before screwing them into the pump housing and sand filter. When its time to disassemble, I unscrew the unions and leave everything else attached.
