Ansylbrite cobalt vs granite and sunstone black pearl

Hi! We are in the process of installing a new pool and I am going crazy trying to pick out a finish. We are limited in what our builder offers. Does anyone have the sunstone select (which is called Ansylbrite from Anthony & Sylvan)? I’m afraid it will be too dark. Our other choice is the cobalt but it’s not quite the darker blue that I like.
Does anyone have sunstone black pearl? Is it rough on your feet? If anyone can post pics I would really appreciate it! Thanks for your help! This is all so overwhelming!

I'm in the exact same boat. I really want to see Onyx - I can find pictures of the Sunstone Black Onyx, but nothing at all for Sunstone Select Onyx, which appears to be lighter on the CL Industries site.

I have looked through the pool finish gallery and there was nothing for it.

Hopefully someone can provide some sort of insight about the colors!
 
I have Sunstone Select aka Ansylbrite in Cobalt. Pool was finished in Sep 2020 and issues with the finish being mottled / splotchy / discolored. The color itself if not dark at all. It’s more of a grey with blue flecks. I am having PB come back in a few weeks to discuss how to address. I have run into others who have encountered a similar result.
Pics show the plaster / fill day. Also 2 month later with slight color change from green to blue. And including pics of finish issues.

Did the builder make any mention of possible cause? Is it workmanship related? I'm scheduled to have my pool plastered with Cobalt in 2-3 weeks from now and would love to know if there's anything I can bring up prior with the builder to avoid the same issue.

Not yet. I just opened this week and planned to call them to come out, so we can discuss. Unfortunately I opened to a whole new issue - calcium crystals all over my walls. So I am going to deal with that then have them come out.

One of the guys in a FB group I belong to had this same mottled plaster issue with A&S and it took him months and he had to threaten to sue before they did anything. They are removing his plaster and replacing it with SunStone Select pearl.

I suspect it’s a combo of poor workmanship and not following manufacturer’s instructions. Be more prepared than I was with this:

My Sunstone Select (Ansylbrite) Cobalt plaster job turned out just like the pictures above. I hoped it would get better over time, but it didn't. It's not terrible but certainly not what I expected from a brand new plaster job. The blemishes are really only noticeable on a cloudy day or in the shadows, so I eventually just accepted it not wanting to push for and go through a replaster. I know even the smallest plaster imperfections drive some people crazy, but ultimately it doesn't really bother me anymore. Once we started using and enjoying our pool it became something that doesn't even enter my mind. Probably not what you wanted to hear, but that's how it went for me.

PaAmanda, did you ever find any good pictures and/or did you select the Ansylbrite Onyx for your finish? I'd love to see a photo of your pool if it's complete, as I was going to choose the Onyx as well and am really struggling to find photos!

Yes! We did go with Onyx. It definitely has multiple personalities...bright and sparkly in the sun, dark and lagoonish when overcast. Looks great. Almost makes me wish I had gone with onyx instead of cobalt. I like the cobalt color, but it seems like they have trouble applying it without alot of blotches and streaks. Yours looks great!

We have our share of blotches. We expected some based on all of the comments in this forum but ended up with more than expected in some areas. Thankfully it's not noticeable when it's sunny and it doesn't impact the overall color.
