Increase Suction Port Size

Hello,

I have heard of enlarging the suction port without draining the water by holding a bowl on the inside. Can anyone fill me in on how it went for them? Was there a lot of leakage while you were cutting? I assume when you removed the bowl, water gushed out of the newly cut hole. Did you freak out? How much water did you lose? What fitting did you install?

Why are you increasing the suction port hole size? If you are using the same size pipe, enlarging the suction port hole size will not really do much. There is very little head loss in the transition. Most is in the pipe and other equipment.
