ScreenLogic/EasyTouch - Programing an AUX or Feature, then adding a new Schedule

Hi Everyone, our 6 month old pool has been running swimmingly well all winter on a schedule for a few hours a day where the water is circulated through both the pool returns and the spa returns to give us a nice waterfall into the pool. Now that pollen season is upon us I’m thinking I want to set up a schedule or feature where the pump focuses maximum skimmer action to clear the flower petals and pollen from the pool’s surface. I’ve taken a few pictures on our equipment and a screenshot of the screenlogic app so you can see what we have. Can someone please confirm that it’s possible to set up a new feature and walk me through the steps? I did search and found some similar threads but I’m not smart enough to understand them, plus I don’t have the PC dashboard for ScreenLogic. I only have a work computer and I can’t download stuff to it

There is nothing the EasyTouch can do to help with skimming.

If this were my pool, this is what I would do.

I'd adjust the valve that is marked "Pool Return" so that most of the water goes to your pool returns and very little goes to your spa overflow.. Adjust the eyeballs in the pool so that they all point the same way. The idea being you want the water to swirl like a giant flushing toilet bowl, but obviously very, every slowly.

In the Suction side, you want as much skimmer suction as possible, so turn off the "Pool main drain".

The next thing you want to do is ramp up the pump speed, if you are running very slowly. This is one thing that you could set up in the EasyTouch. What speeds does your IntelliFlo run? We need to see screenshots of SLConfig.. it is the app that shows what the IntelliFlo will do when specific circuits are turned on.

what other info can I provide you with?

you can see the two schedules and pump settings I have. I’d love to have a third that’s just circulating the pool water only. Jim, I see your recommendation to manually adjust some values and return eyes but you’re saying the valves can’t be set that way automatically via a schedule?

SLConfig has a line that says "Setup IntelliFlo".. That is what I need to see. I don't see any "schedules" nor any pump settings??

I am sure it is just me, but I don't understand what "Circulating water only" means.. :scratch:

What is it doing now that you wish to stop? If the pump is running you are circulating water.

You appear to have two automated valves, the Intake valve and the Return valve. The only thing those two valves do is switch your system between the Pool mode or the Spa mode.. They can do nothing else. All your other valves are manual.

Set up your low rpm spa as your main spa function. You will likely want to not have the heater tied to that. That will be your base. Then set up a feature with the higher rpm as a generic function. To run the spa as a spa, you would engage the Spa function, then the high rpm feature, then turn on the heater.

sorry, I took this one earlier and just didn’t attach it. What I mean by ‘circulating water only’ was for the valves to be set to flow the water from the skimmers, through the equipment, and out to the pool returns - so avoiding the spa and spillover altogether. But from your description it would seem that I can isolate the spa just fine, but I can’t isolate the pool - or at least not via the automated valves. Is that accurate?

Here is an example of my pump speeds... Notice how when I am in the Pool mode my pump runs at about 1200 RPM, then I can turn on additional circuits that increase the pump's speeds.. These speeds can be turned on with a schedule or manually. Skim low runs at 1500, Skim high runs at 2000, and my waterfall runs at 2800 RPM. The point is you can run at different speeds depending on what you are trying to do.

I am still not clear on what it is you want your automation to do that it is not currently doing.

I never did see a "schedule".. Your schedule is how you want to run your pool, so my schedule would not work for you, but here it is as an example..

Thank you both for your feedback and comments. After reading all of them a few times and staring at my valve levers for a while, I can see where you guide me to manually adjust two of them to focus the suction from the skimmers and focus the return water mostly through the pool returns will isolate the water circulation to just the pool and cut off the spa. This should help create the maximum skimming effect to clean the pollen and surface debris most quickly. Thank you both!

Keep in mind that if you cut off all water flow to the spa spillover, the spa will never get any fresh chlorinated water.

There are two basic ways to run your spa spillover.

1. Constant spa spillover, what you have now.. Amount of spillover is set by a manual valve and by the pump speed.

2. Automation controlled spillover. Spillover only runs when you tell it to run. Amount of spillover controlled by pump speed.

If you love to see your spillover running all the time, then the automation-controlled spillover is not really for you. When the automation is in control, the spillover is normally scheduled to run for only 30 minutes to an hour each day, just to keep the spa water fresh. You can also push a button and manually turn on the spillover, but it is not something you would run all the time because when the system is in the spillover mode, no water will be going to your normal pool returns.

If you are interested in the automated spillover mode, just let us know and we can get you pointed in the right direction.
