Hi - just bought a house that has (see attached) a Pentair module of some kind in the equation. Its a box about 3 feet off the ground, near the pool, not bolted to an exterior wall, but rigidly connected to two copper pipes and possibly one electrical conduit. What is this thing and what does it do?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to TFP!

It’s the junction box for your light wiring. It stands up like that because it’s required to be above the water level so it can’t flood.

havent seen the property at night, so we dont know if the pool and or hot tub has lighting or not. Would this tend to confirm either has some kind of lighting? One has to wonder why 3 tubes to it in that case, wouldnt one due?

Minimum conduit into the pool light junction box is two conduits. One is power from the on/off switch and the other runs to the light. The junction box acts as an air gap so pool water can't back up into the electrical system.

With three conduits, chances are there is a light in the pool and also in the spa. Whether those lights actually work or not is still to be determined.
