CMP claims to have SmartSynch technology...

You have to order the correct part number. For Hayward you arr H to the end of the part number.
Thanks for taking the time to post. I will talk to the contractor when he returns and go from there.
In fact, I wish I had known the difference between a deck jet and a laminar when I built my pool
I'm not sure if I know the difference besides the illumination portion. But they do give a nice effect.

From the Pentair website...

The technical principal behind MagicStream Laminars is to remove all turbulence and air bubbles from the water before projecting it through a finely-machined nozzle. The laminar water flow is very non-turbulent, so it keeps its surface tension and flows through the air in a smooth, clean, unbroken stream, instead of spraying apart into droplets.

As Allen posted, the laminar is a smooth stream of water that looks like a solid stream coming out of the deck and into the pool. Deck jets spray water up into the air and turn into droplets and splash down into the water.

Both are technically called deck jets, but the laminar is a much nicer looking feature.

I want to add 2-3 laminars to our pool. Hayward colorlogic's are out of stock, expected ship in mid summer. Don't want to hold up construction so I have an option for the Brilliant Wonders or SR Smith (which I don't know about compatibility with Hayward)

Any experience with either out there? I have not heard good things about the Hayward with the LED's lasting. No info on the others. Brilliant Wonders cheaper than SR Smith.

Anyone have anything to add? Want to decide and order soon.

The concrete workers will be back next week and not wanting to hold up progress so I just purchased (3) of the Brilliant Wonders Laminars while they were available. If they are like what I hear about some others, the LED's may not hold up. If that's the case and I get tired of replacing the LED's, I will have some nice deck jets.

A Hayward dealer said their Omnilogic were backordered until mid-summer. The concrete contractor called someone about the Pentair ones and was told they would ship in middle March with no guarantees. So, it was this or nothing.

Anyone have the Brilliant Wonders and care to review?

I wasn't trying to lock them out but at night we always keep our gate closed. When they come, I have to park our cars out on the road due to open up space. I have also given the builder the combination to the control box for the gate but there was only once when they used it. The builder called me with people trying to get in unannounced as usual and I repeated the combination I had given him. But when I looked at the cameras, the workers had opened up the box inside the fence that contains all the electronics for the gate, presumably with the intention of bypassing the control.
Then they pushed on the gate trying to force it open. Came to our porch and rang the doorbell a couple of times, got back in the truck when they must have called the builder, got back out and opened the box with the controls.

But since there is no project manager overseeing the job and since the builder never comes out here (unless it's payday) I prefer to be here to keep an eye on what it going on. I can't imagine how this thing would have ever gotten built without me being here almost every time they came. If there had been detailed engineering drawings, etc. I could see it happening but in my case, we were going off my sketch and what I had in my head, had conduits to move, water lines to move, and septic line from the house to move.

I've seen others post these elaborate drawings and specs, or have to get all this engineering work done. In our case, little government oversite (which I prefer) with the exception of having to get a authorization from the health dept for the septic (which I had to show them where it was due to no records), a building permit for the pool (the only thing they will inspect is the bonding and primary electrical connections), and a permit for the pool house (which in my county many will skip the permit and just do what they want).

They have finished all the walls now and pulled off most of the forms yesterday. Have 3 Brilliant Wonders Luminars on order which are supposed to ship this week (will see). They will plumb the drains from the luminars into the deck drain system. Got the bonding ground inspection done yesterday. Been waiting on the builder for 4 months to call in the inspection and I just called it in myself. Waited for builder to get price/availability on the luminars for several weeks. Got tired of waiting and got them myself. Won't be much longer before the deck is poured. Have no idea if the builder ordered any equip yet or what may be on B/O.

I have 3 laminars on order that are supposed to be in stock. Assuming I don't get surprised with a back order, I should have them by next week.

It may just be a matter of personal preference but does anyone have suggestions of where to place them around the deck? I have seen pictures of them aligned in a row or spaced around the perimeter shooting in from different directions. I am inclined to place them around the deep end out where there will be less foot traffic and spaced around.

Any considerations from experience or just personal preference?

Just personal preference. Do you have an image of your design you could post to provide some perspective? I'm following your build thread but I don't recall what your pool design is.

Sorry for the delay, I missed the post. The sketch is probably posted above but here it is again. I would say the most major thing was the retaining walls it required. I dropped about 30 inches at the top and still ended up with a 9 ft retaining wall on the back. Could have put it in our back yard and not had the walls but it was too far from the house and not as inviting.pool structure layout.png

Any new updates on this?
They came yesterday to remove the remaining forms, clean up and tamping. I saw them out there running the tamper and it looked like the dirt was rolling out from the front and sides. They had mud sticking to their boots. I took a picture and sent it to their boss asking if it was too wet to be tamping. Soon afterwards, they all stopped working to listen to the phone and one of them was shaking their head looking irritated. They quit tamping and proceeded to dig a 10 ft deep hole to locate a 6" elbow that was placed just inside the back wall for the future deck drains. Don't know why it wasn't stubbed up before all the dirt was put in but they had to dig it out to connect to it. The boss responded later to my pic and question telling me it wasn't a problem with tamping the wet clay but I suspect that is not correct since they discontinued tamping after I sent the picture. The tamping looked like someone trying to tamp play dough. It would go down in the middle and squirt up around the sides.

So, the main thing done yesterday was some clean up of scrap lumber, forming materials, and the stub up of the third 6" drain.

Here is a pic of the drain they finally found that was about 10 ft down from the deck level.IMG_0964.jpgIMG_0965.jpg

My opinion on the deck jet placement would be the three of them on the opposite end as the sunshelf (marks in red). Alternatively you could put them all along the edge (marks in green).

I guess I haven't posted any updates. I did order (3) laminars from Pool Warehouse, told they were in stock and ready to ship and found out afterwards they were actually on B/O. So with that news and not wanting to delay any construction, I ordered and received (4) Hayward deck jets. The good news is I save a LOT of money not getting the laminars and probably some headaches down the road from LED's going out from what I've read here. The other good part is I won't have these huge plastic access plates all over the deck. I really like the way the laminars look at night but I am probably better off that they weren't available.

So, I will have (4) jets to install. I'm thinking along your lines (RED) as to placement. The deep end is out of unnecessary walking space from the house to the pool house and away from the sun shelf. I think that location is also more visually appealing.
sigh...............................at least they found it and fixed it.............we all KNOW you were correct but for some reason he did not want to admit it!
My guess is that maybe they didn't have enough of the 6" pipe prior to shooting the walls and they stubbed out then to connect to later. It ended up being a LOT of work doing it that way. The contractor had told me a couple of weeks back that he needed dry dirt for fill and wanted to dig in a un-dug spot for fill and replace that with dirt that he had excavated for the basement and piled up. Had they came last week, it was dry enough around the pool but over the weekend we had some rain, ice and snow. It had all melted but the ground around the pool was a little too wet for the tamping.

I don't know if I would ever need it, but I had planned on getting a heat pump w/ chiller option. Builder uses Hawyard and says they have been on B/O since Feb 2021. So, I can have them stub up for it and connect later when it comes. Or I can forget it and use just a regular heat pump with no chiller option which I am told is available.

I would prefer the heat pump being connected when the equip is installed but don't want to delay anything. And it may be difficult and look sloppy if they try to install later?

Question is would I ever use the chiller option? It can get 100 degrees here in the summer but probably averages low to mid 90's during mid summer. We are still heavily wooded despite removing lots of trees and would get sun from about 10a or so to 4p in the middle of the summer. Then the sun may peek back around 6 after it clears the house.

Any ideas if the pool water would get hot enough to want a chiller?

Workers here before light this morning, several trucks, skidsteer, trailers, and vehicles lined up on the road. They are supposed to be here for today and tomorrow digging in drains, cleanup, tamping, connection of the plumbing to the equip area, waterproofing IMG_1003.jpgthe poolhouse basement walls, reconnecting cut water lines and communication conduit. Boss is here with them so I am expecting a lot to get done.

There were 17 workers here all day and they got the deck area tamped, pipe for the deck drains installed and connected, the plumbing and conduits ran back to the equip area, waterproofed the basement walls, covered with plastic, installed corrugated pipe around the perimeter and added gravel. Graveled the pool house basement floor, covered with plastic and topped with reinforcing wire. Installed 4 deck jets, leveled out the mound of dirt in the back yard, reconnected irrigation and communication conduits.
They are scheduled to come back in about two weeks to pour the decking, pool house basement and a set of steps off the back of the retaining wall. Afterwards, I will run a 125 amp electric service to the basement wall using a weatherproof breaker box since the pool house won't be built when the pool is finished (fingers crossed), then they can plaster the pool, install the equip and make the connections.
