I'm just starting the planning process. We are on the oceanfront, but have good dunes between us and the ocean. Still, I wonder if there is a way to raise the pool slightly so that if the ocean breaches the dunes during a storm, the pool won't be flooded. But if it is raised, would the sides/support be washed out in a storm? I have seen pools that are level with the second level of homes, but I don't want a 10-15 foot ugly wall! Has anyone raised a pool just a few feet? Any pictures to share? I presume you would have steps up to the pool deck? I hope my questions even make sense to y'all! Thank you so much!

With proper engineering and enough concrete you can do any design. It will likely take footings set down in the sand to have the pool withstand any storms. You will need a pool structural engineer to do the design and not use off the shelf pool build plans.

Many pools here on sloped lots have raised backwalls. Look around the "Under Construction" forum for pics.

My pool is raised out of the ground 18 inches and 3 feet on one end. This makes it so you can sit all the way around it.

My pool is raised over four feet, on the backside, and the yard slopes down about 12 feet from the original patio to the back fence.
