The truth is that pool store testing is so unreliable that we don't put any faith in them. For instance: no, neither MA nor borax can remove CYA so either their reading was wrong before or it's wrong now. Or both. We strongly recommend doing your own testing with an adequate kit ( Test Kits Compared ). Nobody has more vested interest in getting the readings correct for your pool than you, and getting your water tested at the pool store just opens the door to getting some really bad advice from someone who is paid to sell products, not provide you with an accurate test result.
+1. A reliable test kit will cost you less than half of what they would have liked to sell you. This trip. It will ensure you don’t go back dozens of more times, paying for itself many times over.
So they invented a problem when there wasn’t one ?
To nobody’s surprise here, that’s their game. Even worse is when they knowingly sell you stuffs (and not cheaply) that will harm your pool. Then *gasp* they’ll save the day with a cure for that. Ok. Off you go. Don’t touch a thing until next week when you come back for more fleecing *snickers*…. I……. I mean…. Help.
