Has anyone cut in an additional return and a vacuum port without full drain? (Steel Wall)

After dealing with the pool this summer, I really wish I had an extra return and a dedicated vacuum port. It would be nice to be able to skim and vacuum at the same time. My pump is 1.5 HP and too big for our pool so it can handle doing both, plus I could use the additional flow of a 2nd return as well.

I'm worried about metal shavings getting behind the liner if I were to cut a hole in with a hole saw. I'm wondering if there is a better way to accomplish what I'm looking for. I have searched all over and all I can find is dealing with existing factory holes, not cutting new holes through the steel wall.

I mainly use a pressure cleaner, but I also have a manual suction cleaner that I use from time to time. I have the plate that goes in the skimmer to hook it up and if I don't turn off the other 2 skimmers completely the suction is Crud. I have a 2.7 hp pump and even if I run it on high, there is not good suction with the other 2 skimmers running, I have 3 skimmers total.
