Ideas for tall-ish privacy plants along fenceline?

Hi all!

Short time lurker, first time poster here.

Our pool is ALMOST done, and we're already realizing that there are certain parts of our neighbors yards that really do not make for good privacy. We live in the middle of hill, so our neighbors on both sides can see pretty easily into the hard from their hills (see attached). It's not SO bad, but both neighbors have kids and we don't want to deal with sad kiddy eyes watching us enjoy our backyard.

So what are some ideas for a nice relatively quick-growing plant that we could put in the areas indicated in the picture to help block the view from those vantage points? Thought about Italian Cyprus, but I think the regular versions grow too big and the dwarf too small. Open to other ideas.

Location info: Southern California, very clay-like dirt, fairly steep incline.

Oh, ignore the obvious need for a retaining wall in the space behind the pool. It's in the works :)

Thanks!

Hi there LokiDucks! Welcome to TFP. You've got an interesting dilemma there especially since you have that fabulous monster tree!

I think your best bet is to go to a local nursery and see what they can suggest for your climate and situation. Along with the privacy needs you may want to plant some ground cover or something to hold on to those hills on the side.

Thanks Maddie!

I definitely think the nursery route is the way I'm going to go. I also posed this question to Reddit, and boy did I get a ton of responses. Kind of overwhelming!

We've been thinking the same about the hill and groundcover. We just moved in last November, so lots of work to be done. Pool was obviously the priority though ;)
