I have had the Intex system for many years. The early ones used copper electrodes which wore out. The newer ones use titanium plates with an ozone generator (which kills 99.9 % of bacteria). The system is awesome for the price if your pool is about 12,000 gallons. I recently (ever since I added calcium hardener to the pool) started having code 91 and low salt light which shut down my system and I started having low chlorine in the pool. Yesterday I ordered a new system (Intex is having a summer close out sale and I got it for 99.00 inc. shipping). Then I tried finding out what was going on with mine. I plugged the outlet line and the skimmer basket and put filter in closed mode. I proceeded to remove both electrodes from the system. Low and behold, the chlorine generator plates were calcified (should have never listened to Leslies and added water hardener). They were new when I started the season. Soaked them in vinegar for several hours. Kept stirring the bowl and used toothbrush on them. Enclosed is a pic of the calcification what was left. Put them back in after and system works perfectly. Oh well, I have a back up at a crazy price. I tried everything before and nothing worked. I even checked out this site before I ordered a new one. Trust me and try this! you won,t be sorry. My system works as normal and water tests perfect. That code had me scratching my head for 2 weeks. I Love this system. Hope this helps many people. DO NOT ADD CALCIUM HARDNER TO YOUR POOL UNLESS YOU WANT TROUBLE! good for in ground pool systems only. I did it cause I'm an anal perfectionist. Frank
