Hot Tub cover assist apparatus

Our original fold over hot tub cover is in great shape, but the metal apparatus that helped fold it off the tub has snapped due to age. The one we had only dropped the cover half way down. We are looking fir a replacement apparatus that will drop the cover all the way down but there are so many to choose from we can’t decide which is better than another. Any recommendations.

I have a Boomerang lift on mine I really like it. It is a bit pricy but it seems very heavy duty and is also easy to install, to use and is very smooth, easy for one person to open and close, it has gas assisted struts to make it smoother and easier. It does lower your lid all the way to the ground and depending on the tub it will go almost flush, My tub is wider than it is tall so it doesn't quite go all the way down flush, but its not sticking way up in the air either.

Funny, I was just looking at the Boomerang online - as well as the Covermate Vanish XL, though didn't like the idea of gluing the bracket to the cover. Trying to find a local dealer for the Boomerang to see in person. I think I've got a clearance issue with most lift arms between tub and adjacent decking railing post. Maybe an inch or so for an arm to slip thru. And I'd rather not pull the tub out farther. UltraLift says 5" clearance is needed, which seems excessive for just the arm. Have plenty for the mount.

So I just went out and measured for you, from the tub wall to the outside of the mount is right at 4 inches, to the outside of the lift bar is 3 1/2".
I've had this lift since January and I love it.. gets the cover mostly out of the way. The dimensions of your hot tub will determine some of that, my tub is wider than it is high so a little sticks above the tub.

Thanks A.O.! This is good know. I'm strongly leaning toward the Boomerang. I think the next time I drain the tub I'll pull it out few inches and see. Not happy about creating a gap, but the alternative is to have the post moved. Completely removing the cover manually is getting to be a pain.

I don't know if your tub sits on concrete but if it does, and you are thinking about draining it you might want a set of these pads to keep it from sitting on the rough concrete when its open.. They just slide under the tub and the tub weight holds them in place. Boomerang Foot Plates (and no I have no affiliation with the visionlift co, I just like the set up)
